  2. The Second flag is from Wales. I know that there is a welsh colony in Chubut province. They came around the year 1840, and they stayed in the Patagonia. They concerved they culture, language, education and traditions. Also, they stablished a relationship with the native people in Patagonia. They helped the welsh to survive in the new lands (that it was unknown for them). It is an example of intercultural peaceful relationship in the world. Their flag is an argentinian flag with the red dragon in the centre.

    Welsh Flag:
    -Adopted in 1959
    -Origin: Roman

  5. 5° - The England’s flag is represented by a red cross set on a white background. It is known as THE CROSS OF SAINT GEORGE. It was designed in the 16th century, when during the crusades, the soldiers would wear plain white tunics and this´s the birth of the white background. The cross was used to represent the martyred of Saint George and it was his emblem during his years of battle. The red cross was too an emblem of The Order of The Garter. Nowadays is used particularly at national sporting events.
The flag of the United Kingdom (the Union Jack) has incorporated the St George’s Cross and It represents the entire Kingdom of England, including Wales.

  6. 4:
Thi's is the Saltaire or Saint Andrew's Cross, flag of Scotland, it was designed in the 15th century. Although the earliest use as a national symbol can be traced to the seal of the Guardians of Scotland in 1286, material evidence for the Saltire being used as a flag, as opposed to appearing on another object such as a seal, brooch or surcoat, dates from somewhat later.

  7. The third flag is Saint Patrick's Saltire, or Saint Patrick's cross it's used to represent the island of Ireland or Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The order of Saint Patrick adopted it as an emblem during the 1780s. Nowadays, it's most widespread use is in the flag of the United Kingdom. The red Saltire was incorporated into the flag of the United Kingdom to represent Ireland after that 1800 Act of Union joined the Kingdom of Great Britain with Ireland. Most Irish nationalist reject its use because they consider it a British invention.

  11. Welsh Flag

Wales is in the west of Great Britain and is part of the UK. It has a population of 3 million. The capital city of Wales is Cardiff. People in Wales speak English and many people also speak Welsh which is very different and older than English. Street signs in Wales are written in both languages. Wales has been politically linked with England since 1542. Wales was an independent country until it was defeated by the English army. Wales has some independence in making it's own laws, but it is still very much part of the UK political system Romina Baez

  13. 5) the England flag is derived from St George's cross, a myth that comes from the twelfth century, where the saint kills a dragon, and from that moment is considered one of the greatest emblems of the country.
This flag was created in 1191, but it became official in 1287. It's composed by a vertical cross which colour is dark red on a white background. Many people confuse it with the British flag, which is the product of the combination of Scotland and the Patron saint of Ireland.

  18. Flag nº 2: Red Dragon (Y Ddraig Goch) is Wales' flag. It contains a red dragon on a green and white field. During the era of Roman rule in Britain, a vexilloid (flaglike standard) was introduced that may have been invented in Persia (Iran). It included a pole-mounted metal head with an attached body of silk that resembled a windsock. When the Dragon was carried in battle, the silk body made lifelike movements in the air, while a whistle in the head created a screaming noise to frighten the enemy. That Dragon later became a symbol for local rulers, traditionally including King Arthur and the kings of the Wessex Saxons. King Harold II, overcome by William I the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, went down to defeat under the Dragon. There have been several claims for the earliest use of a dragon standard In Wales including those of Prince Cadwaladr (died 1172) and Owain Glyn Dŵr, who fought for Welsh independence from England in the early 15th century.
The Tudor dynasty became established in England in 1485, and its first monarch, Henry VII, chose white and green as his livery colours. His red dragon symbol was attributed to Welsh ancestors, and that dragon was recognized in 1801 as the official badge of Wales. It has appeared on a flag of white-over-green stripes since at least 1911, when the future King Edward VIII was invested with the title Prince of Wales. Other variations of the Welsh dragon flag also exist.

  20. 4.
    Name: St Andrew's Cross
    The Saltire
    Country: Scotland
When it was designed: Two separate legends help to explain the association between Saint Andrew and Scotland. One story tells how in A.D. 345 Saint Regulus was instructed by an angel to take some relics (bones) of Saint Andrew to a far-off land. He eventually arrived in Fife on the northeast coast of Scotland, where he founded the settlement of St. Andrews. Yet another version recalls how in the 7th century, Saint Wilfrid brought the saint’s relics home with him following a pilgrimage to Rome. The Pictish king, Angus MacFergus, subsequently had them installed at his new monastery of Saint Regulus at Kilrymont, later renamed St. Andrews.
And still yet another legend links the adoption of Saint Andrew’s cross as Scotland’s national flag. This recalls how, in 832, on the eve of a battle between a combined Picts and Scots army and an invading army of Angles led by King Aethelstan of East Anglia, Saint Andrew appeared to the Pictish king, Óengus II (Angus) and assured him of victory. The following morning a formation of clouds gathered against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, depicting a white saltire that was visible to both sides. The omen inspired the Picts and Scots to win a famous victory over the Angles of King Aethelstan and so the white cross on the blue background was adopted as the national flag of Scotland.
Who uses it: the flag can be flown at any time by any individual, company, local authority, hospital or school.

  21. Union Jack
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The present design of the Union Flag dates from a Royal proclamation following the union of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801.The flag combines aspects of three older national flags: the red cross of St George for the Kingdom of England, the white saltire of St Andrew for Scotland (which two were united in the first Union Flag), and the red saltire of St Patrick to represent Ireland.

Notably, the home country of Wales is not represented separately in the Union Flag, as the flag was designed after the invasion of Wales in 1282. Hence Wales as a home country today has no representation on the flag; it appears under the cross of St George, which represents the former Kingdom of England (which included Wales).

The Union Flag can be flown by any individual or organisation in Great Britain on any day of their choice. Legal regulations restrict the use of the Union Flag on Government buildings in Northern Ireland. Long-standing restrictions on Government use of the flag elsewhere were abolished in July 2007.
